Michigan Audubon Society Award for Birding
NettieBay Lodge has received the Michigan Audubon Society Small Business Award for its efforts in cultivating public birding opportunities and its dedicated efforts to preserve and monitor the bird population. This award was presented to lodge owners Mark and Jackie Schuler on April 9, 1995 at the Michigan Annual Awards Banquet in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Of specific recognition, NettieBay Lodge was commended for its educational programs and events including the NettieBay School of Birding. This school is an intensive short course in bird identification including formal instruction and extensive field work. Also recognized were the lodge’s specific public events including the spring and fall migration census as well as the June Bird-a-thon where the lodge donates a dollar to the Michigan Audubon Society for each species documented.

NettieBay Lodge is located in Presque Isle County on Lake Nettie, 14 miles west of Rogers City, Michigan. The lodge is comprised of 2,000 acres of hardwood ridges, pine plantings, and river bottoms, and includes cabins and modern cottages.
